Cesar Chavez Park

Cesar Chavez Park is a more of a public park near the Berkeley marina than a hiking spot. It has a large open field for letting your dog off leash, flying a kite, or picnicking. But it does have a nice 1.5 mile loop with views of the bay along three of the four sides. There are an abundance of shorebirds, but nothing that stands out compared to other bayside hiking spots like the Hayward Shoreline, or Shoreline Park, or Don Edwards Wildlife Sanctuary… unless you visit in the winter months specifically to see the burrowing owls that have returned for the past few years.
